The handbook was conceived by the author as an intensive journalism course that combines theoretical foundations with practical application. It is a text designed to be studied by every Latin American journalist for reflection on their day-to-day practice.
The book was presented by its author, Fernando J. Ruiz, professor at the School of Communication at Universidad Austral and academic advisor at CADAL. The panel of commentators included Emilia Delfino, investigative journalist at El DiarioAr; Olivia Sohr, Director of Impact and New Initiatives at Chequeado; and Esteban Pittaro, journalism professor and Academic Secretary at the School of Communication at Universidad Austral.
Among those attending the book presentation was journalist Robert Cox, former editor of the Buenos Aires Herald and a heroic defender of press freedom and human rights during Argentina’s last military dictatorship.
Journalism and the Rights Factory in Latin America is a manual that synthesizes dozens of journalism guides. It is also intended for teachers and students across Latin America who seek to reconcile their passion for journalism with their commitment to social change.
