The conference took place at the Public Bar Association of the Federal Capital. It was moderated by journalist Marina Hernández and, in the opening remarks, Gabriel C. Salvia, Director General of CADAL, recalled the 14th anniversary of Václav Havel’s death and his legacy in the field of international democratic solidarity.
Next, Ayrton Monsalve, journalist and Director of LATVCALLE (Venezuela), presented the report “Alejandro’s Route to the United States: Memories of a Journey That Must Not Be Forgotten”.
The event continued with the presentation of a distinction to journalist Jorge Elías for his journalistic commitment to international democratic solidarity, presented by Carlos Fara, President of CADAL. The awarding of the CADAL Distinction to Jorge Elías took place within the framework of the 20th anniversary of the publication of the book “Kill the Postman: Postscript to the Siege of the Press during the Military Dictatorships of the Southern Cone” and the 200 interviews of “Cuarto de Hora” on CADALTV.
Subsequently, José Montaldo, Secretary of CADAL, presented the Diploma of the Award “Sinic Analysis: Deciphering China” to María Elvira Zavalía for her article.
Finally, Fernando J. Ruiz, professor at the Faculty of Communication of Austral University and Academic Adviser to CADAL, delivered the closing remarks of the event.
