Presentation of the book Cubanías

CADAL, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Buenos Aires, and Civil Rights Defenders organized the presentation of the book on the struggle for freedom in Cuba, featuring contributions from Yoani Sánchez (Havana, 1975); Henry Constantín Ferreiro (Camagüey, 1984); Camila Acosta Rodríguez (Isla de Pinos, 1993); Manuel Cuesta Morúa (Havana, 1962); Marthadela Tamayo (Manzanillo, 1983); and Camila Rodríguez (Havana, 1991).

The book Cubanías: Struggles for Freedom on the Island, published by Civil Rights Defenders, was presented at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Buenos Aires.

CADAL, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Buenos Aires, and Civil Rights Defenders organized the launch event for the book about struggles for freedom in Cuba. The event opened with remarks by H.E. Jarmila Povejšilová, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Argentina, and Gabriel C. Salvia, Executive Director of CADAL.

Also speaking at the opening were Verónica Mesa, head of the Cuba project at Civil Rights Defenders, and Filip Kanda, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Argentina.

Following the opening remarks, the book was discussed by its editor, Mario Zamudio; Cuban writer Marcial Gala; and Diana Arévalo, advisory council member of CADAL.

Cubanías is Civil Rights Defenders’ contribution to the ongoing effort to defend the right of Cubans to tell their own stories and to be part of the change they seek.
