With the participation of Minister María Teresa Mercado Pérez as a guest speaker, and with the sponsorship of the Mexican embassy in Buenos Aires, CADAL began a cycle of meetings called the Diplomatic Forum at its headquarters. At this event, the Mexican diplomat presented the agenda of her country as the head of the G20, which included the following topics: the origin and composition of the G20, the priorities and principle activities of the Mexican Presidency of the G20 (from December 2011 to November 2012), the organization of the next G20 Leaders' Summit in Los Cabos, Baja California, the global issues that this year will launch Mexico to the front of the group, and the present and future challenges that the G20 will confront.
The Minister María Teresa Mercado Pérez has been the Head of the Chancellery of the Mexican Embassy in Buenos Aires since February 2011. In the Mexican Chancellery she has held different roles, including: Director of Multilateral Treaties; Director of Political Issues with France and Benelux; Director of Economic Promotion in Latin America and the Caribbean; and Deputy Director General of Protocol. In the foreign sphere she has acted as the head of economic and sectorial relations at the Mexican embassy in Canada, the head of commercial economic relations at the Mexican embassy in France, and the head of business promotion at the Mexican embassy in Belgium, where she was also the head of the Consul of Mexico. She studied international relations at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma in Mexico and entered the Mexican Foreign Service in 1981.
