The Puente Democrático programme of the Center for the Opening and Development of Latin America (CADAL) and the CICES Network organized a conference in which three Cuban democracy activists participated: the writer Frank Correa, the lawyer Veizant Boloy González and the psychologist Kirenia Yalit Núñez Pérez
The conference took place at CADAL’s office in Buenos Aires and started with the presentation of the 5th edition of Diálogo Latino Cubano which is dedicated to the “Memoirs of the Alternative Forum to the CELAC Summit in Havana”, by Gabriel Salvia.
Frank Correa, Guantanamo (1963). Poet, writer and independent journalist. He won the national comepitions Regino E. Boti, Tomás Savigñón and Ernest Hemingway, all in 1991. That year he published a book of short stories “La elección”, collection La Fama. In 2011, he won the second prize in the essay contest Liberalismo en Cuba and in 2012 he won the first prize Nuevo Pensamiento Cubano, with “La mujer del escritor”. He has published the novel “Pagar para ver” by Latin Heritage Foundation and Editions CENINFEC of Spain. He is member of the Union of Writers and Artists in Cuba and of the Club of Independent Writers.
Veizant Boloy González, Santiago de Cuba (1980). Graduated in Law. Currently, he is specialist of the Legal Information Center Cubalex and leading an initiative to achieve the constitutional consensus in Cuba, through debates in the Cuban civil society on the need for reform of the Constitution. He sends reports about Human Right violations to international organizations as the Inter- American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) and the United Nations. He began his practice as a lawyer of the National Organization of Collective Law. He graduated in journalism from the University of Florida.
Kirenia Yalit Núñez Pérez, Holguín (1981). Graduated in Psychology. Since 2012 she is working for the Cuban Human Rights and National Reconciliation commission, working in the information sector and as psychologist. She designed and executes the project“Centro para la Atención y Asesoría Psicológica a la Sociedad Civil” (CAPSC). From 2003 to 2008 she worked in the area of social investigations in the Center of Youth studies and in 2009 she assumed the position of expert of this center. She prepared preliminary summaries about the scientific-technical services about the recreation of the City of Havana.
