Closing of the 2024 Goodbye Lenin Program

CADAL and Konrad Adenauer Foundation organized at the German Club in the City of Buenos Aires, the closing activity of this year’s Goodbye Lenin Program with the presentation of the Milada Horáková Awards and a lecture on «The Uyghur Genocide».

Milada Horáková Award Ceremony

Two students of international relations from Salta, Clara Wolmy and Agustín Molina Tilián, received the Milada Horáková Award certificates after completing the Goodbye Lenin webinar and successfully competing for the Award by analyzing the performance of autocracies in the Bertelsmann Transformation Index.

Recognition for commitment to international democratic solidarity

CADAL gave recognitions to H.E. L’ubomir Hladik, Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Argentina, and to the Argentine humorist Ariel Tarico.

Solidarity concert for political prisoners

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Argentina and CADAL organized an event in solidarity with political prisoners around the world, particularly in Cuba, as the date marked the third anniversary of the 11J mass protests that had taken place on the island.

On the 74th anniversary of Milada Horáková’s execution, the Embassy of the Czech Republic and CADAL organized the screening of the film »Milada», directed by David Mrnka, with the support of the Undersecretary of Citizen Culture and Human Rights of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires and the San Martín Cultural Center.

Part one of the Goodbye Lenin 2024 Program

Under the auspices of CADAL and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the Good Bye Lenin 2024 took place from May 14 to 30, each Tuesday and Thursday from 4 to 5:30 p.m. (Argentina). The virtual seminar included classes held by the historian Ricardo López Göttig, the journalists Ignacio Hutin and Juan Pablo Cardenal, activist Camila Rodríguez and internationalist María de los Ángeles Lasa.

Human rights in international relations and civil society advocacy

This virtual seminar was held from April 9 to 17, from 20:00 to 21:30 in Argentina, and consisted of 4 classes, taught by Julio Montero, Alejandro Anaya, Inés Pousadela and Gabriel Salvia. A total of 47 participants received a certificate of attendance.

Goodbye Lenin Program 2022

The 2022 edition of the Goodbye Lenin seminar, directed at young students and university graduates, was organized by CADAL and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. Ten invited lecturers participated in the series, including Cuban natives María Matienzo and Kirenia Núñez.

In 2019, the Václav Havel Institute (IVH) held 5 events that were: The legacy of Václav Havel, the Seminar "Human rights in International Relations", the Annual Conference in Memory of the Victims of Totalitarianism , the Goodbye Lenin Program and the Day for International Democratic Solidarity. The IVH was created after the death of Václav Havel. With the constitution of the Institute, CADAL seeks to contribute to keeping alive the legacy of the first president of the Czech Republic, and the promotion of Human Rights, prioritizing the task of disseminating the values ​​of democracy, peace and international solidarity .

International Democratic Solidarity Day

Coinciding with the eighth anniversary of Václav Havel's death, CADAL organized a conference where audiovisuals of campaigns for freedom of movement in Cuba were shown; testimonies of women activists from Venezuela, Nicaragua, Honduras and Cuba; and the documentary "Václav Havel: a life in freedom", by Andrea Sedláčková. Previous presentations were given by Sybil Rhodes, Diana Arévalo, Elisa Trotta Gamus and Ricardo López Göttig.

Goodbye Lenin Program - 2019

Organized by the Václav Havel Institute of CADAL and with the support of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, from November 4 to 15 the 2019 edition of the Good Bye Lenin Program was held. This year speakers were Ricardo López Göttig, Olaf Jacob, Agustín Menéndez, Tomas Varnagy, Sabrina Ajmechet, Fernando Ruiz, Omer Freixa, Cecilia Noce, Fernando Pedrosa, Ignacio Hutin, SE Carmen Podgorean and S.E. Irakli Kurashvili. Addressed to young university students and recent graduates, a total of 21 participants received a certificate of attendance for having attended at least to eighty percent of the classes.

Human Rights in Foreign Affairs

The seminar «Human Rights in Foreign Affairs» was organized by the Václav Havel Institute of the Center for the Opening and Development of Latin America and was held from 6 to 10 May in 5 days of two classes each at the headquarters of CADAL The main speaker of the activity was Dr. Alejandro Anaya Muñoz, author of the book «Derechos Humanos en las Relaciones Internacionales».

The legacy of Václav Havel

Jakub Klepal, Manuel Cuesta Morúa and Gabriel Salvia discussed the leadership of the dissident and former Czech president in terms of international democratic solidarity. The meeting included the projection of a video message from Edita Hrdá, Director for the Americas of the Foreign Service of the European Union.

This year’s edition of the educational program, organized by the Václav Havel Institute of CADAL and sponsored by Konrad Adenauer Foundation, included the participation of speakers like HE Carmen Podgorean, HE Irakli Kurashvili, HE Yurii Diudin, Gustavo Sterczek, Ricardo López Göttig, Fernando J. Ruiz, Tomás Várnagy, Olaf Jacob, Gabriel C. Salvia, and Ignacio Hutin.

The 2017 Good Bye Lenin Program, which took place from November 6-17, was organized by CADAL’s Václav Havel Institute with support from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.

CADAL Organizes Annual Conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Diplomats, public officials, city legislators and human rights activists all participated at the Conference on the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Totalitarianism. The day of remembrance is officially recognized by the City of Buenos Aires since last year when it was proposed by city legislators Cecilia de la Torre and Francisco Quintana.
