During his visit to, invited by CADAL, Reinaldo Escobar met with local intellectuals and journalists, including Robert Cox, former Director of the Buenos Aires Herald during the Argentinian military dictatorship and one of the greatest heroes in the defense of Human Rights and the press freedom in those dark years.
Thanks to the kindness of the journalist Fernando Laborda, on Monday 23th of September, Reinaldo Escobar gave a presentation for students of communications at Universidad de Belgrano.
Also on that day, Escobar gave a presentation at CADAL’s office for students of communications of Universidad Austral, invited by Professor Fernando Ruiz.
On Tuesday 24th, the Chief Editor of www.14ymedio.com gave a presentation for students of communications of Universidad Católica Argentina in the class of the professor Tristán Rodríguez Loredo.
Reinaldo Escobar (Camagüey, 1947) has a degree in journalism of the University of Havana (1971). He worked for the Cuba International journal from 1973 until late 1986. After that, he worked for the national newspaper Juventud Rebelde, from where he was expelled in December of 1988 because of his political divergence with the editorial course of this official publication. Since then he works as an freelance journalist, publishing in El Nuevo Herald, TagesZeitung and Qué pasa. In 2004 he was founding member of the independent digital media Consenso, in 2007 he opened his blog "Desde Aquí". He also hold classes of journalism in the Blogger Academy and worked as presenter in the alternative TV program Razones Ciudadanas. In 2013 he won the prize of opinion journalism in the contest of the Inter-American Press Association. Currently he works as Chief Editor of www.14ymedio.com.
