The 2022 edition of this annual conference organized by CADAL and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation was held at the Espacio Aguaribay, included two panels, the presentation of a book and a closing by a Cuban acoustic music trio.
The conference was opened by Sybil Rhodes, President of CADAL; Susanne Käss, Representative in Argentina of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation; and Pamela Malewicz, Undersecretary of Human Rights and Cultural Pluralism of the City of Buenos Aires. Subsequently, Francisco Quintana, co-author of Law 5608 (2015) of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, who established August 23 as a Day in Remembrance of the victims of totalitarianism in the capital of the Argentine Republic, joined.
The first panel of the conference was entitled "Moscow's allies in Latin America: challenges to democracy and peace in the region", was moderated by the journalist Carolina Amoroso and had as speakers Eduardo Ulibarri (Costa Rica), Rafael Uzcátegui (Venezuela) and Armando Chaguaceda (Cuba).
The second panel, moderated by Gabriel Salvia, General Director of CADAL, was entitled "Why is it important to make the situation of North Korea visible in Latin America?" and had as speakers María de los Ángeles Lasa (Argentina), Agustín Menéndez (Argentina) and Inés Pousadela (Argentina).
In the third panel, a dialogue was offered about the book “Silences”, between its author, Norma Morandini, and Rubén Chababo, former Director of the Museum of Memory of Rosario and academic advisor of CADAL, moderated by the journalist Adriana Amado.
The conference had a musical closing by the “Atemporal trio”, made up of Jessica Zequeira, Noslen Porrúa and Mario Miguel García.
Filip Kanda, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Buenos Aires, together with H.E. Rastislav Hindicky, Ambassador of Slovakia in Argentina, observing the photographic exhibition on Václav Havel that CADAL set up in the Espacio Aguaribay during the conference.
