The Director of the Iniciativa para la Investigación y la Incidencia A.C. ( Research and Advocacy Initiative), forced into exile and currently residing in Mexico as a political refugee, held meetings in Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile and Valparaíso with authorities, legislators and human rights referents. Camila Rodríguez was interviewed by important media of the three countries and also participated as a speaker in events and lectures at universities.
In Montevideo, Camila Rodríguez was received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Deputy Foreign Minister Nicolás Albertoni; held a meeting at the Uruguayan Parliament; gave interviews to the newspaper El País, the weekly Voces and Radio Azul; and participated in a conference at the headquarters of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
In Buenos Aires, the Director of Justicia 11J was received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship by Deputy Foreign Minister Leopoldo Sahores; held meetings with National Deputies and legislators of the City of Buenos Aires; met with human rights defenders and with Cuban colleagues living in Argentina; and gave an interview to the portal Infobae.
In Chile, Camila Rodríguez was received by authorities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; held a meeting with deputies in Valparaíso; visited the Museum of Memory in Santiago; held meetings with diplomats and human rights referents; participated in an event; and was interviewed by the newspaper La Tercera.
Camila Rodríguez holds a Licentiate Degree in Hispanic Literature from the University of Havana, Cuba (2014). Between 2014 and 2019 she coordinated multiple international events in the area of Central American culture and archives, participated in multiple colloquia, congresses, talks and presentations, and was a juror in audiovisual and research competitions of regional scope. She was a member of the working group of institutions such as the University of Havana, Casa de las Américas and the International Film and Television School of San Antonio de los Baños (Cuba), and of the Film Archive of the Experimental University Film Group of the University of Panama, and is a founder of the Central American and Caribbean Network of Film and Audiovisual Heritage (Red-CCAPFA). She was part of the working group of the civic group 27N, where she assumed tasks of organization, communication and drafting of documents and statements. She was also part of the animal movement in Havana.
Following the social outburst of July 2021 in her country, she founded, along with seven other women, the working group on politically motivated detentions Justicia 11J, where she still serves as project director. Justicia 11J's work has been recognized by international organizations including the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and the United Nations (UN), and has been cited by some of the world's most influential media outlets.
As a result of his pro-human rights work, Rodriguez was forced to go into exile in Mexico upon the entry into force of a new Penal Code in Cuba.
