The 29th edition of the magazine Perspectiva presents a balanced report of the debates over sustainable development, the need to consider political, economic, and social concerns in order to make sustainability possible, and the consequences of adopting (or not) this model for several Latin American countries. In addition to recognizing that sustainable development includes social equality -- and with it the eradication of poverty -- the magazines discusses the need to generate greater interaction and coordination between the government, civil society, and multilateral organizations, in order to transition to a more efficient economy that seeks to implement alternative energies and reduce dependency on fossil fuels.
For this edition, Perspectiva consulted the following analysts: Carolina Jaramillo Aguirrezábal (Colombia), technical coordinator for the Global Environment of the IADB; Carlos Martínez (Chile), academic specialist in sustainable development; Francisco Javier Burgos (Dominican Republic), specialist in energy and sustainable development for the OAS; María del Rosario Alfaro (Costa Rica), President of AmbioConsultores S.A., headquartered in Costa Rica; Santiago Madriñán de la Torre (Colombia), President of the Colombian Business Council for Sustainable Development; Randal O'Toole (United States), senior fellow of the Cato Institute; Luiz Carlos Correa Carvalho (Brazil), President of the Brazilian Association of Agrobusiness; Matías A.
