August 23rd saw the commencement of the 2012 edition of the Germán Sopeña Program "Economic Information: Media, Politics, and Enterprises", which seeks to provide practical and conceptual tools for performance in the media as well as in institutional relations, press, public affairs, business or corporate affairs, the public sector, and civil society entities. This program takes place from August 23rd until October 25th at CADAL´s headquarters.
Tristán Rodríguez Loredo presented the first class, which covered the following topics: "Special areas in economic information; Agendas and context; Journalism of political economics, analysis, business, or large schools; Corporate and personal finances; Consumerism and the use-value of information".
Journalist and economist Tristán Rodríguez Loredo holds Master´s degrees in Sociology and Communication Business Management. He writes as a professional journalist for El Cronista Comercial, Clarín, and Editorial Atlántida, and was director of the magazines Negocios and Apertura as well as executive editor at the magazine Noticias. He is Executive Director of the Christian Association of Business Directors (ACDE) and a member of the Advisory Council at CADAL.
Germán Sopeña, Argentine journalist and author Germán Sopeña was born in 1946 in Huinca Renancó, Córdoba, and died on April 28th, 2001. He studied Political Science at the Paris Institute of Political Studies and Sorbonne University. During his successful career in journalism he worked as the economic columnist for the newspaper La Nación from 1986 to 1992, eventually becoming Secretario General de Redacción. As a journalism teacher, he reccommeded his students develop Italo Calvino´s six virtues: lightness, quickness, exactitude, visibility, multiplicity, and consistency. Two of his most important books are: Memorias de la Patagonia. Crónicas, escenarios, personajes (2006) and La libertad es un tren (1990). He was awarded the Eisenhower Fellowship to conduct research on the formulation of politics in the United States and the evolution of economic theories (1991); the Entrepreneur Award (1995); the National Order of Merit from the government of France (1996); the Konex Award in Economic Analysis (1997); and the Santa Clara de Asís Award (1998). CADAL´s program "Economic Information: Media, Politics, and Enterprises" bears Germán Sopeña´s name to commemorate his distinguished journalistic career as well as to highlight his vocation in the training of new generations of journalists.
