You also can be a part of it!
Next Sunday, April 19 the Geneva Summit for Human Rights, Tolerance and Democracy will take place. It is a meeting of human rights activists from all over the world, looking to solve the real problems of human rigths in society.
It is necessary to use the adjective "real" and the existence of a Summit for a simple reason: moral corruption in the UN. More specifically, that organization will simultaneously organize the Examination Conference of Durban, a meeting where the government delegates and some NGO's will discuss the supposed advances that took place in the world in human rights defense.
Unfortunately, the UN summit lost its legitimacy rapidly. Their main sponsors are almost completely extremely violent dictatorships. If their agenda, their sponsors, the contents of their statements and in general the political tone of the proceedings, it is understood that the UN prestige will be used to legitimize and legalize:
It is not strange that this is the case, when among the leader of this session of United Nations one can find the governments of Lybia, Iran, China, Cuba, Syria, Pakistan, and others. The radical Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, in fact pretends to attend personally to the event.
Meanwhile, some democracies have stepped aside from it. United States have not decided yet what to do, but Canada, Israel, Italy, Australia, United Kingdom, the European Union and France have stated that they plan to move aside from the meeting until the meeting is boicoted.
So that the cause of human rights cause is not sabotaged, a coalition of non governmental organizations focused in human rights decided to organize her own summit. The main elements of it are the presentation of direct testimonies of victims of individual rights violations and discussions on how to improve their protection worldwide. Many causes are represented if one combines the participating organizations and the speakers. Among others:
Not only those travelling to Geneva will be able to take part in the Summit. All the event will be transmitted live via Internet. Moreover, one will be able to send e-mail questions from any part of the world, since there will be space for questions to the speakers. To register, it is only necessary to send an e-mail with subject "Register" to webmaster@genevasummit.org.
As co-organizer and strong supporter of the principles that she defends, CADAL invites her friends and readers to attend the Summit.
