The Center for the Opening and Development of Latin America (CADAL) backs Argentine President, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, regarding her critics to Equatorial Guinea's Dictator, Teodoro Obiang Ngume. In this regard, Gabriel Salvia, Chairman of CADAL, stated that "after the response made public by Equatorial Guinea, it is important to support the gesture of international commitment to human rights of the Argentine President. This is something that we have demanded from CADAL, because we always remember that during the Argentine dictatorship, important signs of international solidarity were received from different democratic countries, in their foreign policy of condemnation and denunciation of the country, as well as the brave actions of foreign diplomats. For this reason, the Argentine Republic has a moral obligation toward the citizens of countries where their governments are considered to be violators of human rights, like the case of Equatorial Guinea".

Regarding the reaction of the government of Equatorial Guinea because of the Cristina's attitude, Salvia said that "one of the reasons favoring the complicity in the silenced seeked by dictatorships, is that they transfer to their foreign policy, the same intolerance that they apply locally and many democratic governments are afraid of this rethoric reprisals". And he added, "human rights violation in Equatorial Guiena is documented by the most prestigious international organizations, so the Argentine President can be calm and feel proud for receiving the reproach of a dictator".

Finally, Salvia explained that "from CADAL we hope that the President will maintain this critical attitude and denounce every dictator, without exceptions".
