Staff incorporations

Four new members were added to the staff at the Center for the Opening and Development of Latin America (CADAL). From left to right: Brian Schapira, former Under Secretary of Protection and International Liaison in Human Rights of the Nation of the Argentine Republic, has become our Institutional Relations Director. What is more, Elena Newkirk, who holds a degree in Journalism, has joined our team as our Institutional Communications Coordinator; Melina López, majoring in Public Accountant at Universidad de la Marina Mercante, is now our Administrative Assistant, and María Victoria Maineri, who holds a degree in International Relations, is our new Institutional Relations Coordinator.

Incorporaciones al Staff

Following the departure of –now former Programme Director- Hernán Alberro from CADAL, after having worked at the Foundation since its constitution, and in the framework of the emergence of other positions, a new Institutional Relations Director has been incorporated, together with a new Administrative Assistant. Also, after a competitive call, the Organization has incorporated an Institutional Communications Coordinator and an Institutional Relations Coordinator.

Brian Schapira, our new Institutional Relations Director, is a Lawyer (Universidad de Buenos Aires), with a Master in International and Comparative Law (Southern Methodist University - Dedman School of Law, Dallas, Texas, USA) and a Postgraduate in Oil and Gas Law (Universidad de Buenos Aires). He was Under Secretary of Protection and International Liaison in Human Rights of the Nation of the Argentine Republic between December 2015 and December 2019.

Schapira was also an intern of the International Clerkship Program before the Federal Justice of the United States, in Dallas, Texas. He was Legal Advisor of the Ministry of Justice and Security of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires; Legal Advisor in the Legislature of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires; he worked as Associate Senior Lawyer for the Bunge, Smith and Lucchia Puig Study; he was Head of the Legal Department of the Tzedaká Foundation, and Lawyer of the Delegation of Argentine Israelite Associations (DAIA).

Elena Newkirk, designated Institutional Communications Coordinator, has a degree in Journalism (Universidad del Salvador) and a Master's Degree in Administration and Public Policy (Universidad de San Andrés).

She was Press and Communications Analyst at the Ministry of Public Affairs of the Province of Buenos Aires; she worked as a Political Writer and Substitute Editor-in-chief at La Prensa Newspaper, and was Executive Producer to Romina Manguel at América AM1190 Radio Station. Furthermore, she worked as Producer Assistant to María O’Donnell at Continental AM590 Radio Station, América TV Station and Todo Noticias News Station.

María Victoria Maineri is our new Institutional Relations Coordinator. She has a degree in International Relations received with Cum Laude honors (Universidad de San Andrés) where she obtained the "Abanderados Argentinos" Scholarship. She completed a semester of university exchange of the bachelor's degree at the University of Edinburgh through a full Erasmus scholarship. Plus, she completed a course on Human Rights and Global Politics (University of Texas) under the "Friends of Fulbright" Scholarship Program.

She worked as an Analyst at the Secretariat of Planning, Evaluation and Management Control of the Government of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

Melina Alejandra López, our new Administrative Assistant, is studying Public Accountant at Universidad de la Marina Mercante. She has worked at Alcor S.A., Faro Capital S.A., and has completed a Labor Internship at the Chaia y Asociados Accounting Firm.
