Hernán Alberro, Programs Director of CADAL, participated as a moderator in a roundtable composed of the Cuban activists Yoani Sánchez and Dagoberto Valdez and Venezuelan activists Leopoldo López (Voluntad Popular) and Tamara Suju, where they analyzed the future of Cuba and Venezuela and the transition process in both countries. The roundtable was held in the European House in Prague and it was organized by Forum 2000 and sponsored by People in Need. Yoani Sánchez raised five provocative futures for Cuba: of the popular uprising, the foreign intervention, transition monitored process, a transfer of power, and an utopian regime evolved into a sensible socialism. This shot an interesting debate about the possibility of military intervention in Cuba by democratic countries such as Bolivarian countries. This last possibility was dismissed by Tamara Suju, Human Rights activist of Venezuela, who said that "Madura has several internal problems to worry about what happens in Cuba and promote a military intervention there"According to the schedule, the Cuban activist Dagoberto Valdez from the group Convivencia Cuba, said that "Venezuela is the hope" because when the Venezuelan activists achieve change in their system, they will prove that the 21st Century socialism does not exist. In turn, the leader of Volunad Popular, Leopoldo López, expressed himself strongly on the future possibilities of Venezuela and the need to raise "All Rights to all Venezuelans".The four performances generated public questions which ranged from cyber activism to the International multilateral Organizations."One learns to be free by being free, just like one learns to be a father being a father” concluded Yoani Sánchez to the questions about the possibilities of Cuba and Venezuela creating a space of conducive change in their countries.
